Open letter to Mr., John Howard, PM Australian Government

Dear Mr. Howard,

We members of Burmese community and their supporters, students rallying outside the Prime Ministers John Howard office in Sydney to call for the Federal Government to take action in support of Committee Representing People's Parliament- CRPP in Burma.

In order to implement the results of the elections in 1990, CRPP also known as ten person Committee was established on 16'h of September 1998 by National League for Democracy and Four ethnic nationalities parties with authorization 251 members of parliament - elect. CRPP has the mandate to convene the parliament of Burma in line with democratic principle.

We condemn the Australian government and United Nations for their failure to assist CRPP in its sole task to fulfill the desire of the entire people of Burma to return to a democratic system through an elected parliament.

We condemn the Australian government and United Nations for their failure to assist CRPP in its sole task to fulfill the desire of the entire people of Burma to return to a democratic system through an elected parliament.

We also condemn the State Peace and Development Council SPDC ruling regime in Burma for their latest crack down on the Buddhists monks who were joining a peaceful movement calling for a dialogue with SPDC and CRPP. It is urgent to release all those 3000 political prisoners from torture camps, including U Aye Thar Aung the secretary of CRPP, Dr Saw Mra Aung, the president of the parliament and 50 members of parliament.

We would like to express our disappointment over the plans to assist Burmese regime to set up a ' National Human Rights Institute ' and to provide trainings for civil servants in Burma and Australia.  Our leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and democratic forces flatly reject the whole idea. Therefore it must be stopped.

We demand the Australia government to cut all ties with brutal regime in Burma.

We demand Australian government to impose tough measure including economic sanctions against the regime.

We demand international bodies particularly the United Nation to unseat the SPDC regime in support of democratic representation of CRPP.

Yours Sincerely,
